It's like saying CV "weaknesses" are having thin plating, poor detection, and crapsecondaries. Those are weaknesses only in name, but they never actually affect sub gameplay unless the sub has royally screwed up. Right, because being paper thin, limited dive capacity, and no viable surface weapon are absolutely overpowered. Gun fire boom does increase Aerial Detect, so you might see cruisers and destroyers at distance while at periscope depth if they're firing. So battleships will be visible at distance, Cruisers are medium range (5-6km), and DD is 3km or less. Periscope Depth will be able to see enemy ships according to their Aerial Detection sizes. Subs continue to receive team spotting information at Operational Depth.Īs long as enemy ships are spotted by someone else, you'll be able to attack them just fine. Aircraft spotting will also completely nullify subs, since guns have longer range than torpedoes and diving deep enough to avoid damage essentially blinds the sub.Ĭombined with the nerfs to torpedoes, is anyone planning on playing subs after 0.10.10? Subs are too slow to run away, and every other ship type now has something to attack subs while the sub can do nothing.Įssentially, this requires that subs run on the surface or at periscope depth, where they are vulnerable to guns, or dive deep enough to be invisible but useless. Anyone else catch the 0.10.10 announcement where it said that submarines will no longer be able to detect ships beyond 2km at operational depth? I'm wondering how they think submarines are supposed to operate at "operational depth" when they can only see ships within the dead zone of their only weapons, where they are also automatically detectible to enemy ships.
